Beyond acting, Fisher was a prolific writer; her semi-autobiographical novel Postcards From the Edge was adapted in to a acclaimed film, and her one woman play, Wishful Drinking, into an acclaimed book. Fisher returned to the Star Wars franchise in 2015's The Force Awakens, as well as appearing in the successful Channel 4 comedy-drama series Catastrophe, earning her a Prime Time Emmy nomination. Throughout her life, Fisher lived with Bipolar disorder and fought addiction, spending much of her career helping and raising awareness for those in similar situations. She is sorely missed.
